BILL SLENKER CHOSEN ICON OF BUILDING INDUSTRY
SPRINGFIELD, VA – September 15, 2009. Fourth-generation Mid-Atlantic land developer of mixed-use, multi-generational and 55+ lifestyle communities, William T. Slenker, President of Slenker Communities, was awarded the prestigious “Icon of the Industry” award by the National Association of Home Builders 50+ Housing Council at their annual conference in Philadelphia.
Mr. Slenker was recognized for his cutting edge insights and creativity in planning and developing award-winning 50+ housing communities. His innovative concepts, attention to detail and rich lifestyle programming have earned him national respect and recognition and set new standards for the industry. His communities have won numerous awards, attracted national and international attention, and have been highlighted on national community tours as an example of the best the industry has to offer. Mr. Slenker was chosen for the significant and lasting impact he has had on the growth and development of the 50+ housing industry, which has become increasingly diverse in this ever-changing housing market. His extensive efforts to share his knowledge with others in the industry were also recognized.
Mr. Slenker was honored at the Best of 50+ Housing Awards gala held in conjunction with the Building for Boomers & Beyond: 50+ Housing Symposium, NAHB’s annual education and networking conference for industry professionals involved in 50+ housing. Now in its ninth year, the Icon awards program recognizes those outstanding individuals and companies who have contributed to the 50+ housing industry through their leadership and innovation.
